Kpetoe floods subsiding

Floods which inundated almost the entire Agotime-Kpetoe and surrounding areas are subsiding but residents displaced by the floods are still staying with relatives and friends.

Schools were closed Thursday and Friday and business activities dull and virtually no farm visits as the farms were under water and farms paths cut.

The floods happened when Tordze River burst its banks.

Following heavy rains and flowed into a small stream called “Kpetoe” that runs through the middle of town.

Mr Michael Kobla Adjaho, the District Chief Executive of the Agotime-Ziope District, told the GNA that the Agotime-Kpetoe Health Centre was partially covered by the waters forcing authorities to transfer a delivery case to the Volta Regional Hospital in Ho.

He said a rescue team comprising various professionals including engineers arrived as part of a NADMO team from Accra to join in the rescue mission which scoped the waters from the Maternity Block of the Health Centre.

Mr Adjaho said staff of the Health Center was at post working but maternity cases were still being referred to Ho for now.
