MTN organises forum for online media editors

Leading telecommunications company MTN has organized a forum on the digital terrestrial for selected online media editors at its Switch Center in Accra. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, an official of MTN said the company is leading the delivery of a bold new digital world. She recalled the genesis of mobile phones and how it has transformed to smart phones which can be used for many things that bring personal, business and economic benefits because of its speed, reliability, value and affordability. According to Madam Fiagbenu, the internet is everything, and journalists must take advantage of its fastness and reliability to get information or send information. “The internet revolution is on and MTN has to work aggressively to meet customer’s expectations” she stressed. She noted that the power shift has move from companies to consumers and for the past 10 years, the technology revolution is yielding positive results, with the widest 3G coverage in 170 districts capitals. She mentioned fiber and microwave network as the latest technology, and as they look ahead into the future, the focus would be data enhancement of the network and quality of capacity. Others who shared experience with the media were Efua Falcona, Afua Serwa Boateng, Eddie Kpodo and Eric Agyapong of MTN, veteran journalists Kwesi Gyan Apenteng and Joe Aggrey who advised the media to be professional in their duties. They touched on the opportunities offered by face book, twitter, You Tube, Instagram and other social media networks that have enhanced the electronic culture. The MTN Online Forum was organized to create an opportunity for MTN and managers of online platforms to discuss the opportunities available for business development and also promote MTN’s vision of leading the delivery of a bold new digital world. The journalists who toured the Switch Center expressed satisfaction with the event and wished that more of such interactions are often held to sensitise media men on modern trends. The forum gave the participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the state of the art technology being used by the company.
