COMEU,V/R, call for inclusion of educational units in decentralisation process

The Conference of Managers of Educational Units (COMEU), Volta Chapter, has called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to include educational units in its decentralization process.

Reverend Gabriel Senanu, Chairman of COMEU, Volta Chapter, speaking at a sendoff party for Elder Hayford Adomako, former Volta Regional Manager of the Seventh Day Adventist Unit on Friday, said it appeared to COMEU that it was being sidelined by the GES.

Reverend Senanu, also the Manager of the AME-Zion Unit, called on COMEU at the national level to use its approaching October Conference at Wa to draw the attention of education policy planners and the President of the nation to these issues which could affect education management negatively.

Reverend Senanu commended Elder Adomako, who retired after 37 years service in education, 30 years with the GES and the remaining seven years with COMEU as Secretary, for his hard work.

He said Elder Adomako represented a store of support for other units and that even in retirement, COMEU would seek his experience.

Elder Adomako expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the honour, urging them to remain united in the pursuit of the ideals of COMEU.

Member units of COMEU, which manage scores of schools in the Volta Region are the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Catholic, Evangelical Presbyterian, Methodist, AME-Zion, Seventh Day Adventist and Anglican churches, Salvation Army, Islamic and Garrison.
