Big Ada institutes excellence awards

Ada Excellence Awards (AEA) scheme, has been instituted to reward individuals and organisations whose contributions had brought tremendous improvement in the lives of the people of Ada and the country as a whole.

The scheme which is an initiative of Eventcomm Ghana Limited, an event management company, would be launched on June 3 at Big Ada.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, it noted that AEA would define the integral and critical role of the citizens of Ada in promoting and ensuring sustainable development of the community.

It said the awards scheme would be an annual event to give recognition to organisations, individuals or groups which make significant and lasting contributions in multiple ways that foster the well-being and development of the citizens of Ada and beyond.

“AEA would be to motivate natives who have naturalised elsewhere to come back home and help develop Ada,” the statement read.

It entreated all and sundry to support the laudable initiative in the manner in which they patronise the “Asafotufiam” festival.

Other aims of the award scheme is the creation of a platform through which the youth would network with key role models from Ada and other parts of the country.

“Also in the upcoming elections, the programme would create equal platform to foster unity among Adas and other residents, irrespective of their political affiliations, in other to ensure a peaceful 2012 …elections”, the statement added. Nene Debra IV, who is also a member of the Ada Traditional Council and AEA Planning Committee, lauded Eventcomm for the initiative and pledged the support of the council towards the programme.

Ada is located in the Dangme East District in the Greater Accra Region and has salt mining, fishing and farming as the main occupation of the inhabitants.**
