Catholic priest calls for collaboration between parents and teachers

The Reverend Father Dominic Asuahene, the parish priest of the Saint Martin de Pores Catholic Church, Nkoranza, has called for collaboration between parents and teachers in the education and training of the youth to promote discipline.

He appealed to teachers to live as role models so their students and pupils would emulate them and grow to become responsible adults.

Rev. Fr. Asuahene, the local manager of Roman Catholic Schools, was speaking at a durbar and fund-raising harvest for Catholic Schools in Nkoranza.

The programme climaxed the celebration of the Catholic Educational Week in the area, under the theme, “Rejoice in the Lord Always.”

Rev Fr Asuahene said, since the Catholic Church was in partnership with the Government in national development, its leadership was concerned about upright development of the youth so they could fit into society.

He urged Catholic students “to take their education seriously so they can achieve higher academic laurels and support the growth of the Church and the country”.

Mr Peter Berkab, the Headmaster of the Roman Catholic Junior High School, expressed concern about the failure of parents to attend the durbar and advised them to place premium on their children’s education.**
