Tigo Presented Educational Materials to Some JHS Schools

in the Effutu Municipality at Ceremony in Winneba

Tigo Ghana limited has presented educational materials worth GH¢ 9,000 (Nine Thousand Ghana cedis) to Junior High Schools that performed well at the ICT Quiz Competition for JHS in the Effutu municipality in Winneba. The items included, three (3) laptop computers, Tigo branded T-Shirt, Exercise books, water Bottles, cups, Pens among other.
Presenting the Items to the Winning and participating schools at a colourful ceremony in Winneba, The Brand Image coordinator of Tigo, Alfred Lamptey said, ICT Education is important for nation Building, therefore Tigo will ensuring better ICT education in the country.
Mr.Lamptey said though youth of today are technologically survey, tigo will continue to support under privileged communities in the country with ICT teaching and learning materials and also encourage the students in those communities as well to take ICT Education, one of their priorities.
The Administrator of WinforTech a subsidiary of Ark city-link foundation, a local based non governmental organisation in winneba in the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region Joseph Aiby said despite Challenges Ark city-link foundation is faced with, the management and the board will ensure sustainability of ICT programme to train more students in the Effutu Municipality and its environs since the world is a global village and needs vivacious ICT people to mind it.
An Executive Director of Africa ICT Right, Daniel Kwaku Gyanyoame who read the Keynote address mentioned luck of Support from well to do Ghanaians and other partners as a major challenges facing the smooth running of ICT education in the Country, he said ICT play important role in all sectors of the economy, hence there is the need to ensure massive support in ICT Education in the country
A.M.E Zion “D’ was immerged the overall winner of the competition with 68 points followed by H & E Educational Centre with 53.5 points. The rest were Ebenezer Memorial JHS (3rd) with 39.5 Points, Pentecost Preparatory JHS Placed (4th) with 36 points Synclair international School came (5th) with 30 points and Presbyterian JHS placed (6th) with 28.5 Ponits.
The Competition was sponsored by Tigo and Graced by the Board members of the Arck Foundation, Chiefs and opinion leaders, heads of schools.
