Ghana Muslim Mission donates to Nsawam Prison

Nsawam, May 31, GNA - The Ghana Muslim Mission, a non governmental and non profit religious organization, has presented items valued at GH¢2500 to the Nsawam Prisons. The items include two bags of sugar, medicated soaps and creams, sachet water, second hand clothing, fruits, books, Qurans and bread. Dr Sheikh Amen Bonsu, Deputy National Imam of the Mission and Chief Executive Officer of Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital, who presented the items on Monday, said the gesture to support the inmates to feel comfortable formed part of the mission's social responsibility.

He said as Muslims, it was important to always care about the welfare of others and strive to show love and sympathy to make the less privileged in society live happy lives. Dr Bonsu noted that life does not place people in permanent positions, saying, 93one's situation may change at any time so one needs to be prepared to face the challenges squarely". He encouraged the inmates to have positive change of minds and do their best to resist bad company and deeds in order to return to society as useful citizens.

DSP Matilda Nyampong, who received the items on behalf of the female inmates, expressed gratitude to the Mission for the donation, especially the medicines.

She noted that although the prisons receive donations from various organizations, they hardly received medicines, saying it was important for all to think about the health of inmates and try to help. ASP Yusif Adam, who received those for the males, thanked the Mission for their kindness and called on other organizations, institutions and individuals to also go the aid of the incarcerated. 31 May 11
