MP and Church organise soup kitchen at Teshie

Teshie, April 28, GNA - Nii Nortey Dua, the Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, in collaboration with Gateway Chapel International at Teshie, put smiles on the faces of about 4,000 people of Teshie on Easter Monday when they organised for them what was termed an 93Easter Soup Kitchen."

The beneficiaries, mainly the aged and children, were served with sumptuous meals and treated to good music. Nii Dua, who is also the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, said he would team up with the Church, to ensure the programme was sustained. He said inform ation from health authorities showed an imminent outbreak of kwashiorkor in the town and promised to help address the problem by ensuring that women prepared balanced diet for their children.

Reverend Prince Dugah, Founder of Gateway Chapel International, and Executive Director of National Fish Farmers Brigade, assured the people of Teshie that as part of its social responsibility, the Brigade was in the process of establishing a Fish Processing Company in the town to provide jobs for the youth. Mr Daniel Amartey Mensah, Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Chief Executive, commended the Church for its positive role in helping to improve the standard of living of people in the community and expressed the hope that other religious bodies would make similar contributions.
