Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar communities appeal for road rehabilitation

Dokrochewa (E/R), Jan. 6, GNA - Residents from seven communities in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District, have appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads to rehabilitate the Suhum=96Dokrochewa feeder road linking the main Suhum=96 Asamankese highway. The communities include Tetekasum, Godziase, Kwamekyere and Oboango. Farming and fishing communities around the Kua River, find it difficul= t to travel to marketing centres, due to the poor nature of the road. Mr Mathew Narh, an opinion leader at Dokrochewa, making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, said several appeals to Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar Assembly for assistance, had not been successful. He said the residents through self-help had tried to maintain the road for vehicles to ply, using hoes, spades and cutlasses but that no major rehabilitation had been undertaken.

Mr Narh noted that attempts by some communities to reshape their portions of the road, had rather worsened the situation.
