TTC consoles Midland International

Tema, Oct 1, GNA-Osongaa Nii Adjei Kraku, the Second, Tema Mantse, on Thursday led a delegation from the Tema Traditional Council (TTC) to Midland International (Ghana) Limited, an alcohol storage warehouse around the Tema Port, to empathise with its Management workers for losing four workers to fire.

The workers lost their lives last Saturday when an empty alcohol tank they were repairing at the premises of the Company on exploded. Osongaa Kraku advised Management of the Company to take extra safety and precautionary measures in order to forestall future occurrence.

He said it was the prayer of the Traditional Council that such a calamity did not recur in the Metropolis. Mr. Kwadwo Twum Obese-Jecty, Managing Director of Midland, thanked members of the Council for taking time off their busy schedules to console Management.

Mr Obese-Jecty gave the assurance that everything possible would be done by Management to forestall any future mishap. Mr Andrew Nortey, Officer in charge of Safety and Security at the Company, who briefed Osongaa Kraku, President of the TTC, and the other members on the incident, said as part of a routine maintenance on one of the company's storage tanks, the deceased welders were repairing rusted stairs and walkways on that particular tank when it exploded. Among those present during the visit by members of the Traditional Council were Mrs Anita Laryea and Ms Jemima Anku, General Manager in charge of Operations and Marketing Manager respectively, of Midland International. 01 Oct.10
