14,230 students/pupils in Effutu receive free exercise books

Winneba (C/R), March 27, GNA - The Effutu Municipal Directorate of Ghana Education Service (GES), have distributed 147,000 exercise books to 14,230 pupils in thirty-five public schools in seven communities in the Municipality.

The beneficiaries came from 16 Junior High Schools and 19 primary schools. The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim and Mrs Sally Coleman, Deputy Director of Education in charge of Administration of the Municipal GES, made the presentation at separate functions. They said the books were in fulfillment of the promise made by President John Ata Mills and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party's campaign promise to Ghanaians.

The primary school received 116710 while the JHS had 30,290 exercise books. Nii Ephraim urged parents to encourage their children to concentrate on their books and desist from activities that could undermine their education and affect their lives.

Mrs Coleman entreated parents not to shirk their responsibilities in educating their wards on grounds that they were poor. The Deputy Education Director urged parents and guardians to also contribute their quota to augment whatever government was doing to educate Ghanaians. Mrs Coleman also appealed to teachers to give off their best towards government's efforts at promoting education. Nana Kobina Imprebee, Gyasehen of Gyagyanadzi, on behalf of parents of the communities, expressed their sincere thanks to the government for fulfilling the promise.
