Dressmakers clothe Prisoners

Ho, July 14, GNA - The Volta Region branch of the Co-operative Tailors and Dressmakers have donated 40 pieces of uniforms and soap worth 550 Ghana cedis to inmates of the Ho Prisons.

The donation formed part of activities to commemorate the group's first General Assembly in Ho. The General Assembly held under the theme, "Coming together for sustainable development" was to solidify the hitherto loose membership throughout the region.

Mr Patrick Debrah, the Ho branch President, told the Ghana News Agency that the donation was borne out of the understanding that responsibility for the comfort and dignity of the inmates must be collectively borne by government and civil society groups.

He said government needed assistance to fulfill its obligations towards prisoners in the country.
