Leisure hours are paramount - Manager

Akim Oda (E/R), Dec 1, GNA - Manager of Bethel Vocational Academy (BVA), Mrs. Vida Boakye, in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region on Saturday, advised parents to help wards use their leisure hours profitably. "This is because leisure hours are very important," she said. She was interacting with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akim Oda, to discuss among other things student-staff cordiality, students welfare and their leisure hours in school. Mrs. Boakye asked parents to encourage their children to accept the concept of library, instead of wasting their leisure hours on unhealthy and unprofitable activities. The Manager stated: "I entreat parents to take up the challenge of assisting their wards to benefit from their leisure hours". The hours used for picking up lifestyles such as wee smoking, sexual activities and other anti-social practices could be used on books, she said. According to her, there was a need for parents to encourage their children to 'be-friend' the library, since it was a place where all the entertainment the children wanted were stored. 1 Dec. 08
