Schools in Effutu awarded for excellent performance

Winneba C/R March 8 GNA- Some educational institutions in the Effutu Municipality of the Central Region were on Thursday awarded special prizes for excelling in athletics and quiz competition as part of activities marking Ghana's 51st Independence Anniversary celebration at Winneba.

They included St. Paul's Methodist Primary, Universal Primary school, H and E Primary School, Presbyterian Junior High School, Don Bosco Junior High School and Zion Junior High School.

S.H. Amissah Vocational institute received a special award of a double burner cooker for its spectacular performance over the years. Solomon K. Abbam-Quaye, the Municipal Chief Executive, who distributed the prizes, commended the schools for their performance and expressed the hope that they would improve upon their standards. The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr Samuel Owusu Adjei said government recognized the contributions of parents towards their children's education.

He said government would continue to initiate pragmatic programmes towards the development of education. Mr Adjei said government committed to making science and technology the engine of growth of the country's economy.
