Chief demands compensation

for property destroyed during road construction

Ahwerease (E/R), Aug. 28, GNA - Nana Opare Asinor, Adehene of Ahwerease in the Akwapem South District of the Eastern Region has appealed to the Ministry of Transportation for compensation for persons whose properties were destroyed during the construction of the Aburi - Manfe road.

The properties destroyed include a day-care centre a public place of convenience, the local durbar ground and some streetlights. Nana Opare Asinor said these at Ahwerease during the Awukudae Butuw festival of the chiefs and people on Monday.

Nana Asinor appealed to the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Magnus Opare Asamoah, who is also the Deputy Minister for Transportation to use some part of his MPs Common Fund to provide them with bore holes since the construction of the road destroyed pipelines, the people in the area were finding it difficult to get assess to portable water both commercial and domestic use. 28 Aug. 07
