Teachers in Shama Ahanta East receive bicycles

Sekondi, August 3, GNA- Sixty teachers in deprived areas of the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly, have been presented with bicycles to facilitate their work.

The presentations were made after a tour of the area to ascertain conditions under which teachers work.

Mr. M. A. Morgan, the Metropolitan Director of Education, said the gesture was to encourage the teachers to work harder irrespective of the poor conditions under which they were working. Mr. Philip K. Nkrumah, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the role of teachers in national development was enormous and serious efforts must be made to motivate them to work harder. He said efforts were being made to provide accommodation for teachers adding that the Assembly had built teachers' quarters at Akromakrom.

Mr. Nkrumah urged the teachers to update their skills and knowledge to enhance teaching and learning.
