Kasoa Police launches an appeal for fund

Kasoa (C/R), June 12, GNA - A total of six million cedis has so far been realised from an appeal for funds launched by the Kasoa District Police Service in Kasoa three weeks ago.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Charles Adalong, the District commander, told the Ghana News Agency in Kasoa on Monday that the fund would be used to purchase patrol vehicles and equipment to combat crime in the area.

He said uncompleted buildings in isolated areas had become a hideout for armed robbers and that unless enough funds are mobilised to supplement the Government budget for the Service, it would be difficult to effectively combat crime in the area.

ASP Adalong said the robbers had succeeded in robbing residents of valuable items including money, mobile telephones and trinkets and advised residents to avoid walking in the dark alone. They should also avoid carrying large sums of money on them.

ASP Adalong urged the residents to be vigilant and report suspicious movement of persons and vehicles especially taxis in their vicinities to the police.

He said members of the public could reach police on mobile phone numbers 0244 986060 (rpt. 02444 986060) or 244 424559 (rpt. 0244 424559).
