Youth Alive supports street children in Upper East Region

Bolgatanga, June 22, GNA - Youth Alive, a charity local non-governmental organisation (NGO) has supported 28 young people with to ols worth 21,882 Ghana Cedis to start their businesses.

The NGO is working in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West region s to give street and vulnerable children and the youth a second chance to l ive a life of dignity. The tools are, hair driers, weaving machines and sprayers for vehicl es. Presenting the items, the Programme Manager Mr Conrad Balig noted th at the sole aim of the NGO, is to improve the lives of the beneficiaries and

restore their self esteem to enable them reintegrate into society and contribute to the development of their communities and the nation at larg e. Mr Balig said the NGO was working to provide educational, vocational

and health support to facilitate the advocacy and championing of the righ ts of children through the establishment of child protection network. The Field Facilitator of the organisation, Mr Albert Avoka said the beneficiaries had undergone a three- year apprenticeship and had skills i n the field of dress making, hair dressing, carpentry, cloth weaving, car spraying, and auto mechanics.
