World Vision Ghana presents medical items to hospitals

Tamale, Nov 12, GNA- World Vision Ghana (WVG), an NGO, on Wednesday presented more than 1.3 billion cedis worth of medical consumables to the Tamale, Bolgatanga and Wa Regional hospitals. The items include of 1,090 boxes of medical items from the World Vision Australia.

Presenting the items Mr Alidu Dason, Northern Sector Director of WVG, said the donation was under the World Vision Ghana's "Gifts-In-Kind" programme, which consists of gifts such as pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, clothing and footwear, books and recreational supplies. He said companies and individuals in countries such as Australia, the United States and Canada donate these items, which WVG in turn, presents to people in its project communities as well as health and educational institutions.

Mr Dadson said it is his expectation that the donation would be an additional resource to the beneficiary hospitals to add value and quality to their service delivery.

Mr Saaka Mahama, Senior Supply Officer at the Tamale Regional Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the three regional hospitals, commended the WVG for the gesture.

He said the donation had come at a time when the government needed support to enhance health care delivery in the country.
