World Sight Day to be launched in Koforidua

Koforidua, Sept. 3, GNA - The national launch of World Sight Day to raise awareness on the need for stakeholders to take action to reduce blindness in the country comes off on October 13 in Koforidua.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in collaboration with its development partners would undertake cataract operations for 300 patients in the Eastern Region as part of the launching.

The exercise would be organized from October 09 to October 12 at the Suhum, Nsawam and Asamankese Government hospitals, the Koforidua Regional Hospital and the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital.

The theme for the launch is “Reducing blindness, the importance of eye care in national development”.

Dr James Addy of the Koforidua Regional Hospital Eye Clinic appealed to opinion leaders in communities to help mobilize people with cataract to enable them benefit from the exercise.
