Western Region will shun homosexual practice – Minister-designate

Paul Evans Aidoo, Ministerial-designate for Western Region, has expressed the opinion that perhaps 99.9 per cent of the people in the region would vote against homosexual practices should there be any such voting.

He said though it was reported in the media sometime last year that there were over 8000 homosexuals in the region majority of the people do not support the practice.

He said this when he was vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday among other nominees.

They are Nii Armah Ashietey, Minister-designate for the Employment and Labour Relations Ministry, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare who is heading to the Tourism, Culture and Creative Art Ministry and Nyon Bilijo who heads to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.

The last is Mr Eric Opoku, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister-designate. Mr Aidoo said there were about 4900 refugees in the region with majority being Ivorians with 1600 and tents, clinics and schools are provided for them.

He told the Committee that there were a lot of agitations about bad roads in the region adding that the situation did not begin during the late President Mills administration.
