Residents at Akyem Maase in the Asene-Akroso District of the Eastern region are appealing to government and the police service to attend to them in the community to fight the activities of criminals terrorizing them.

According to some of the residents who spoke to Nyankonton Mu Nsem, criminals have invaded the community causing them to live in fear.

The residents said they sometimes run into dead bodies on their farms and at the outskirts of the town.

They also noted they can no longer go to farm or engage in trading activities due to the attacks and alleged killings by the criminals in the community.

The residents have appealed to government to set up a police post in the community to maintain law and order.

"We are appealing to government to come to our aid.We want a police station. We want these criminal activities to end. It's either someone is shot dead or stabbed or even butchered without any reason. We do not have any police personnel here in the community and before one rushes to the nearest police station to report a crime, the suspect may have escaped," said the residents.
