Volta-Canadian Union of Ontario donates to institutions

Hohoe, Aug. 9, GNA - The Volta-Canadian Union of Ontario, Canada on Wednesday presented two lawn mowers, worth about 50 million cedis to two institutions in the Hohoe District.

They are the Hohoe School for the Deaf and the Hohoe Government Hospital, which received additional set of computer with its accessories.

Mr Benhard Akplu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Union in a speech read for him by Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area said their gesture stemmed from an appeal made by the later, whilst on visit to Canada, last year.

He said the Union, which was in its puerile stage organized a fundraising activity to raise the needed funds for the purchase of the recycler 6.7 horse-power mower, which was expected to help keep the vast surrounding of the hospital and the school clean and maintain of its beauty.

Mr Akplu hoped that optimum output of the mower would be guaranteed, while the Union reorganized to procure other medical and non-medical consumables for hospitals in the region.

Dr Edwin Danoo, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital thanked the Union through Togbega Gabusu and entreated similar associations of Ewe community and Ghanaians in the Diaspora to emulate the sterling example of the Union to assist in nation building, irrespective of where they were domiciled.
