Veep joins Abeadzeman to celebrate festival

Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Vice President, has urged traditional leaders to be development- oriented, in order to contribute effectively to the country's socio-economic development.

The Vice President made the call at a grand durbar of the chiefs and people of the Abeadze Traditional Area, under the able leadership of Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi the seventh, Omanhen of the area, and President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, to climax activities for the celebration of their Ahobaa Kese Festival at Dominase Abeadze.

The festival was on the theme: “Ahobaa Kese Festival: A Vehicle for the Socio-Economic Development of Abeadzeman.

The annual celebration is aimed at taking stock of the achievements and failures of the people, and to put in place strategies to forge ahead as one people and contribute their quota towards the total development of the area.

Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said traditional leaders had in-depth understanding of the needs of their people.

He said over the years, government had executed some development projects in the area, and these included school infrastructure.

The Veep disclosed that plans were far advanced to construct a community centre and a College of Education, as well as an Information Technology Centre (ICT) in the area.

He therefore entreated stake holders in education to encourage and sensitize children in the area to take I. C. T. training seriously, to enable them become well informed, to withstand challenges.

The Vice President cautioned people who used I.C.T to defraud others to desist from such practice, since it constituted a serious crime.

He commended Abeadzeman for a peaceful celebration, and asked God to continue to shower his blessing on Ghanaians, to enable them to contribute their quota to supplement government efforts.

Daasebre Ewusi expressed his appreciation to all who joined them to celebrate their festival.

He pointed out that festivals were symbolic in the revival of culture, to foster oneness within communities, promote family bonds, enhance social cohesion, deepen the loyalty and allegiance of the people in the various traditional areas.

The Omanhen, therefore, charged the youth to uphold their culture as Fantes and Akans.

The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Chieftaincy Affairs.
