Veep congratulates Maulvi Ben Salleh on his elevation

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has congratulated Maulvi Ben Salleh, Head of the Ahmadyyida Mission on his elevation as the new Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadyyida Muslim Mission in Ghana.

He also applauded the Ahmadiyya Mission for the smooth changeover from one leadership to the other.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur gave the commendation when he paid a courtesy call on Maulvi Ben Salleh at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Head Office at Nyaniba Estates, Osu.

Maulvi Ben Salleh until recently, when he was nominated as the Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Mission, was the acting head of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Ghana.

He succeeded Maulvi Dr Wahab Adam, former Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadyyida Muslim Mission, who died some few months ago.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur stated that the objective for his visit was to wish Maulvi Ben Salleh well for his nomination as the leader of the Ahmadyyida Mission in Ghana.

He urged the Ahmadiyya Mission to rally behind the government as it embarks on the difficult task of nation building.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur also noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as a party, would send a delegation to congratulate him.

Maulvi Ben Salleh, the new Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission commended the government for giving his predecessor, Maulvi Dr Wahab Adam a befitting state burial.

He said when Maulvi Dr Wahab Adam died, the Worldwide Leader of the Ahmadyyida Muslim Mission nominated him to serve as the acting Missionary in Ghana.

He said later when the world Leadership of the Ahmadyyida Muslim Mission met in United Kingdom for a conference, he was then confirmed as the Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadyyida Muslim Mission in Ghana.

Maulvi Ben Salleh also lauded the government for the recognition of the Ahmadyyida Mission and its contribution to the national development all these years.

He said the Ahmadiyya Mission see the government of Ghana as partners in development and that they also stand for peace and development.

Earlier, Mr Anthony Coptly, West Africa Area Manager of British American Tobacco led delegation to pay a courtesy call on Vice President Amissah-Arthur at his office at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

The discussions focused on dealing with the various issues affecting the tobacco industry in Ghana.
