Ekuasi (W/R), Dec. 16, GNA - The Takoradi branch of the ladies' association of the Volta River Authority (VRA) and Takoradi International Company (TICO), an energy producing company at Aboadze on Saturday presented items worth more than five million cedis to the Twin City Special School and orphanage at Ekuasi, near Sekondi. The items included cartons of laundry and toilet soaps, detergents, five mini bags of rice, a bag of sugar, packs of assorted biscuits and sweets, toys, toilet rolls, oranges and 30 plastic chairs. Mrs Felicia Bramson, president of the VRA/TICO ladies association, presented the items said they formed part of the association's programme to help the less fortunate in the society.

She expressed the hope that the donation would help bring some relief to the 150 inmates during the yuletide. Madam Elisabeth Amewowor, Headmistress of the school, expressed gratitude to the association and asked for more support from parents and organizations to improve facilities at the institution. Madam Amewowor said a vocational centre had been established to train capable inmates to acquire skills that would enable them to lead independent lives after graduation. 16 Dec. 06
