VR Director of Lands Commission arraigned over land registration

Ho, May 11, GNA - Mr Augustine Edwin, Volta Region Director of the Lands Commission, was last Thursday brought before a Ho Circuit Court for wilful double registration of a parcel of land. He was alleged to have granted the re-registration of that parcel of land knowing it had already been registered in the name of some other person.

Edwin was granted bail in the sum of Ghc12000 with one surety and asked to come before the court again on May 15, this year. Chief Inspector Emmanuel Okudzeto told the court presided over by Mr Ernest Obimpe that the complainant in 1998 bought and registered two pieces of land at Kormedzraele near Fiave in Ho, in the name of Rose Vivian Asafo, his wife.

He said the complainant returned from a sojourn abroad to find out that the land had been encroached upon. Mr Okudzeto said investigations by the complainant indicated that the land had been registered in the name of one Mansa Dagbey and therefore petitioned the Lands Commission. He said all efforts to get a redress proved futile and the complainant reported the matter to the police. 11 May 09
