Upper East Regional Minister sure of lasting peace in Bawku

Bolgatanga June 25, GNA - Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, on Thursday noted that the prevailing peace in Bawku and its environs is likely to be sustained. Briefing a five- member delegation from the Ghana Armed forces, led by Naval Commodore Geffery Mawule Biekro who paid a courtesy call on him Bolgatanga, he said the Mamprusi faction that withdrew from the mediation efforts had rescinded the decision and are working towards achieving lasting peace in the area.

He commended the soldiers deployed to Bawku for the good work they were doing towards the attainment of peace. Mr Woyongo said their tireless effort is bringing normalcy to Bawku. The Minister appealed to the Military High Command to step up efforts at reactivating the Paga Airstrip for easy and fast movement of people and resources. Naval Commodore Biekro called on the people to team up with the people to maintain peace. He presented a plague of honour and hard work to the Regional Minister.
