Unexamined life not worth living - Rev Dr Akrong

Accra, Dec. 24, GNA - The Reverend Dr A.A. Akrong, Associate Minister of the Ghana Police Church, on Saturday called on Christians to do serious introspection, correct their mistakes and live righteous lives.

Rev. Dr Akrong, who was preaching the sermon at the Christmas Service of the Church, quoted Socrates saying; "unexamined life is not worth living".

He expressed regret about the way some Preachers had shifted emphasis from righteous living demanded by Christianity to prosperity for members of their congregation.

He said this shift had led to the over concentration on the acquisition of material things to the detriment of spiritual development of many Christians and cited the case of the Rich Young Man, who went to see Jesus Christ but had to leave miserably because he had put to much of himself into his worldly possessions.

Rev. Dr Akrong said with the birth of Christ, Christians should re-examine their lifestyles, mend their ways and live righteously.
