Two butchered on their farms in Bawku

Bawku, Aug 11, GNA - Mr Amadu Gambilla, 38, and Dauda Seidu, 45, bot= h Mamprusis were butchered this morning on their farms around Siliminaba near Bawku. Mr Dauda sustained several injuries all over his head and body, and wa= s unconscious on arrival at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital. Both casualties have since been referred to the Bolgatanga Government Hospital for further medical attention.

So far, the Bawku Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the incident. At about 13.30 hours, several gun shots were heard in the Municipality= .. Mr Mohammed Namde Tahiru an opinion leader for the Mamprusis said they suspected the Kusasis were responsible for that heinous crime and that it was a nasty and barbaric act which, if not immediately checked, would jeopardise the relative peace being enjoyed in the area. He called on the security agencies to do an extra work to bring the perpetrators to book, to avoid any likely acts of revenge. He urged his compatriots who had any problems pertaining to land ownership to seek redress from the law court instead of resorting to violence.

The Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police Boudu Kweku Pepprah who confirmed the attack, gave the assurance tha= t the security personnel on the ground were making extra efforts to prevent the situation from deteriorating. Meanwhile, hospital workers and patients at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital are deserting the facility. However, the security agencies have stepped up vigilance at the Hospital to ensure law and order.
