Two Canadian volunteers donate to school

Upper Bobikuma, (C/R), April 24, GNA- Two Canadian volunteers donated four computers and accessories, footballs, jerseys, assorted books and teaching aids to AME Zion Junior High School at Bobikuma in the Agona West Municipality to enhance teaching and learning. Ms Elizabeth Baffoe Bonnie, assembly member for Upper Bobikuma Electoral Area, disclosed this at a durbar organised by the people of Bobikuma for the volunteers, Miss Britany Litz and Joel Mohe on Wednesday. The assembly member commended the volunteers for their contribution to the development of education in the area. Ms Boonie appealed to the Municipal Assembly to build a library and computer laboratory for the school.

Mr Joseph Henry Otabil, head teacher of the school, praised the two Canadians for the gesture and hard work and dedication to duty. He gave the assurance that the computer and educational materials would be made available for the school children to facilitate their studies. Mr Otabil appealed to the assembly to build a new classroom block for the school to replace the dilapidated one which was constructed in 1928. Mr Mensah urged parents to send their children to school and appealed to the children to make proper use of the equipment and materials.

Mr Ben Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive, urged school the children to make proper use of the educational materials and computers to facilitate their studies. Mr Mensah said the Agona East District was created to ensure the development of the area, adding that the assembly would have its Common Fund for development. He said the assembly would construct a six-classroom block for the school to enhance teaching and learning.
