Twifo Praso district assembly approves 2008 budget

Twifo Praso (C/R), May 1, GNA- The Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira district assembly is to construct a GH¢21,000.00 fire station for the district this year.

This was among a number of new projects approved by the assembly in its 2008 supplementary budget at the end of a two-day meeting of the assembly on Wednesday at Twifo-Praso.

Mr Emmanuel Agyeman, presiding member of the assembly said the assembly has so far received a total of GH¢1,249,277.57 as its share of the district assembly common fund for 2008.

He said other projects, which the budget would cater for include the construction of a six classroom block for Twifo Praso Senior High School, a district police headquarters, a market at Praso, installation of traffic lights at Twifo Praso , expansion of the Praso lorry station and housing for nurses and workers.

The rest are the construction of a lorry park at the Kakum national Park, renovation of office blocks and bungalows for decentralized departments, improvement of sanitation and waste management, valuation of properties as well as maintenance of farm tracks and mental railings at Twifo-Praso and Wawase.

Mr Agyeman said in all the assembly would spend GH¢257,051.30 on new projects whiles the rest of the money would be used for on going projects, statutory deduction and counterpart funding.
