Tullow donates to HASCO

Tullow Ghana has presented a cheque for GH?378,000.00 towards the construction of a new Assembly Hall for the Half-Assini Senior High School (HASCO) in the Western Region.

The amount, equivalent to US$100,000, is an initial payment of the US$500,000 the Company promised the school towards the construction of the 1,350 sitting capacity Assembly Hall.

Presenting the cheque to the school at Half Assini, on behalf of the Company, Mr Kwasie Amponsah Boateng, Social Performance and Public Affairs Manager of Tullow, said the gesture forms part of the Company's efforts to improve education in the region.

He said Tullow operates in three thematic areas including Education and Training in the Country under its Social Investment Programme.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Kodwo Edjah, who received the cheque commended Tullow for contributing immensely to improve the School.

He thanked Mr Bai Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Tullow, for fulfilling his promise when he first visited the School about four years ago.

He said the School, one of Ghana Trust fund Schools, established by the First President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, in 1960, with 35 Students, now has a student population of 1,327.

According to the headmaster about 600 students are posted to the School under the Computerized School Selection & Placement System (CSSPS).

According to the Headmaster, the situation now requires an Assembly Hall with about 1,500 sitting capacity for the School.

He on behalf of the Board of Governors of the school assured Tullow that the money would be used for its purpose as well as for regular maintenance of the Hall when completed.

The District Education Director, Mr Peter Blay Ackah Quayson, in an address read for him, appealed to Tullow to fast-track the Water project it started last year at Annor Adjaye SHS (ANNASS) at Ezinlibo, to improve water supply to the School.

He urged Tullow to provide the District Education Directorate with a vehicle to enhance its Supervision and work.

The PTA Chairman, Mr Francis Lokpoh, on behalf of Parents commended Tullow for its numerous interventions at the School and hoped that the company will discover more oil wells to enable it to increase its Co-operate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Ghanaians.

The Senior School Prefect, Master Solomon Adonle, on behalf of the Students, expressed gratitude to Tullow for its contributions towards the School and appealed to the company for a standby generator to enhance teaching and learning.
