Tudu-Kinbu Community petition Education Minister

Accra, May 27,GNA - The Tudu-Kinbu Community Welfare, has appealed to the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports to intervene on their behalf for the Headmistress of the Kinbu Secondary Technical Secondary School and the Board of Governors to allow the community to have access to the only playing field in the area, which is gradually being turned into a market.

It said in line with the government's policy of tapping the talents of the youth through sports it is surprised that the Headmistress of the Kinbu Secondary Technical Secondary School and the Board of Governors would turn the only playing field in the community into a market and a lorry park for financial gain.

The Community Welfare Committee said it was surprised to note that the market women are levied 10 cedis per head every week paid to the Headmistress for the Board of Governors.

The statement issued in Accra by the committee said it took the trouble of grading the park, which was in a very bad shape through the use of the facility by market women and commercial transport vehicles with the intention to fence the park to protect the interest of the youth but lack of funds had delayed the project. The Committee said that to their surprise the Headmistress and the Board have allowed the park to be turned into a market and all efforts to protect it for the use of the youth to develop their sporting talents have proved futile.

The Committee, which had been registered as a Non-governmental Organisation in the statement said it would be grateful if the Minister could use his office to impress on the Headmistress and the Board to eject the market women and commercial transport operators to enable the youth to have access to the facility develop their talents for the benefit of the country. It said this would also enable the students of the school to have access for their sporting activities.
