Trouble Brews At Ho Central NPP

The Volta Regional Executive Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has annulled the Ho-Central Constituency elections held in April this year. The Council has fixed the 31st of this month for constituency elections in the region.

According to the acting Regional Chairman, Ken-wuud Nuworsu, the Executive Council had issued a directive that all constituency elections should be suspended until the recent by-elections in the country were over.

Mr. Nuworsu said the organisers of the constituency election in the Ho-Central flouted the directive.

The nullification of the results led to the sacking of the newly elected Ho Central constituency chairman, Seth Anyadi from a regional executive council meeting last Saturday in favour of another candidate, Von Seshi Toblu.

Mr. Toblu has however been rejected by some members of the Ho central constituency in a vote of no confidence, paving way for the election of Anyadi at the congress, which the executive committee declared illegal.

Meanwhile, Mr. Anyadi told JOY FM in an interview that he still considers himself as Chairman of the constituency since he was legally and constitutionally elected by congress. He is also awaiting an official statement from the executive committee of the party stating reasons why he was sacked from last Saturday’s meeting.
