Tema Mantse urges companies to be fire conscious

Tema, Aug 1, GNA - The Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II, on Friday called on companies in the Tema Metropolis to take fire precautions at their premises seriously to decrease the high rate of fire incidents. He said fire outbreaks in the Metropolis in recent times, have deprived companies of their important documents as well as properties running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

Nii Kraku made the call when he inspected renovation works at the Tema main branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), which suffered fire outbreak some months ago. He entreated officials of companies especially the banks, to ensure that they managed their operations with consciousness to prevent fire outbreaks and other dangers associated with their activities in order to attract businesses.

The Tema Mantse also appealed to the bank to be innovative in serving the Metropolis, especially those in the import and export sector as well as ensuring that its services conformed to the bank's mission. He advised GCB to open more branches in the various communities in the Metropolis in a bid to satisfy the banking needs of its numerous customers. Mrs Aku MacBruce, Area Manager of the bank said the fire destroyed some portions of the building, but important documents and money were not affected. She also appealed to the Traditional Council to allocate land to the Bank for the opening of a branch at Tema Manhean.
