Tema Chief Imam calls for peaceful election

Tema, Feb. 1, GNA - Alhaji Ahmed Samed, Chief Imam of Tema on Sunday called on Ghanaians to comport themselves during the forthcoming elections to ensure a peaceful and successful democracy in the country. Leading the Tema Muslim Community in prayers at the Sports Stadium to mark the Eid-Ul Adha, he said as Abraham sacrificed to achieve successes, so must Ghanaians also sacrifice in this era of democracy to enable the political leadership to have the peace of mind to run the administration of the country.

Alhaji Samed advised Muslims, specifically against allowing themselves to be used for violence events during the elections in order not to tarnish the image of Muslims.

He said the slaughtering of ram and feasting with neighbours during the Eid-Ul-Adha signifies unity and urged those who are at loggerheads with others to see the need for reconciliation to ensure peaceful co-existence.
