Teachers urged to be committed

Nyinahin (Ash), April 24, GNA - Mr. Wilberforce Owusu Ansah, Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, has appealed to teachers to show a high sense of commitment and devotion to duty.

He said Ghanaian children were at the cross-road of various influences and there was the need to shepherd them to take the right route. Addressing the district's annual best teacher awards ceremony at Nyinahin, Mr Owusu Ansah said moral decadence such as gross indiscipline, breach of law and order should be the concern of all the stakeholders.

Twenty-four teachers and non-teaching staff who performed creditably were presented with television sets, mattresses, gas cookers, radio sets and bicycles.

Mr. Owusu Ansah commended teachers in the district for their hard work that had ensured improvement in the educational delivery in the district.

He said the district assembly had made contribution to education by providing school infrastructure, furniture and other teaching and learning materials to improve output.

Mrs. Belinda Serwaa Addo, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, cautioned heads of schools to apply the capitation grants meticulously.
