Teachers in Colleges of Education have resolved to continue their strike despite instructions from the Education Ministry for them to return to work.

The Teachers begun the strike Monday over delays in migrating them from the payroll of the GES to the colleges of Education payroll.

The Education Ministry has asked them to call off the strike since their grievances are being handled.

PRO for the Education Ministry Francis Gbadagbo said the process for the migration is almost completed, hence no need to disrupt the academic calendar.

“We have gotten to a moment where the fair wages and salary commission have communicated to the Ministry of finance over the migration process and we are almost at the finishing end and by the close of this week, we should be able to hear from the Ministry of finance and so there is no need to continue with the strike and disrupt the academic calendar”.

But the Secretary for the Teachers in the Colleges of Education Prince Obeng-Himah told Starr News they are not convinced as to when the process will finally be completed hence cannot call of the strike.

“The fact that the Finance ministry have not even indicated which step they have taken and how many more steps they have to undertake before the migration is effected; and you tell us you almost getting to the point of getting it effected, then there is no clear definition yet".
