Tamale Metro Assembly signs contract agreements

The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly (TaMA) on Friday signed contract agreements with contractors for the construction of storm drains, the upgrading of lorry parks and some communities within the Metropolis.

The projects include the construction of the Gumani storm drains at the cost of over GH¢ 6 million, the upgrading of the Aboabo Heavy Duty Lorry Park at the cost of GH¢ 5 million, and the upgrading of the Moshie Zongo and the Tishigu Local communities costing more than GH¢5 million.

Mr Hanan Gundadow Abdul-Rahman, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, said the construction of the storm drains and the upgrading of the lorry park and the communities confirmed the commitment of the NDC government in its quest to execute its “Better Ghana Agenda” to justify the confidence reposed in government by Ghanaians.

He said the projects, when completed, would enhance the overall development of Tamale, and advised the contractors to execute quality work that would stand the test of time.

He explained that the Aboabo project was the first phase, while the Moshie Zongo project would be worked on not only to ease traffic, but would enhance the beauty of the area.

Mr Abdul-Rahman, therefore, called for the support of the chiefs and people of Tamale for the successful completion of the projects.

He said Tamale was poised for development, and expressed the hope that the Metropolis would overtake other major cities in the country in terms of development in 10 years to come.

Mr Richard Yaw Kesse Appiah, Resident Engineer of Fas Consult, consultants of the projects, gave the assurance of proper supervision for the quality execution of the projects, pledging that Fas Consult would work closely with contractors for the speedy completion of the projects.
