Take good care of your children, parents urged

Mr Kofi Gyan Dom and Miss Awotwi Pratt, co-founders of the Orphan Care Foundation, a Non-Government Organisation, have appealed to parents to take good care of their children as they are gifts from God.

They said the extended family system should be sustained to serve as a bridge between members of the family.

The co-founders of Orphan Care Foundation made the call when they donated assorted items to the St. Annan’s Family Home at Winneba.

The items included bags of rice, sugar, flour, beverages, cooking oil, milk, and toiletries worth over GH¢3,000.

The co-founders appealed to women to ensure that they move with responsible men saying it was wicked for a woman to take care of pregnancy for nine months, give birth and throw the baby away because of hardship as it occurred recently at the orphanage, where a woman abandoned her seven week old baby.

Mr Kwabena Fosu, a Lawyer and former Member of Parliament Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, appealed to Ghanaians not only to remember orphans in their prayers but to endeavor to contribute to their upkeep.

Mrs Emilia Turkson Ndom, the head of the orphanage and the Director of Non-Formal Education Division of the Ministry of Education in the Gomoa West District, thanked the donors for their concern for the orphans and urged other organisation to emulate the example of the Orphan Care Foundation.
