TUC urged to help check rising rate of indiscipline at workplaces

Tamale, May 2, GNA - The leadership of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has been called upon to help address the rising rate of indiscipline, hatred and unhealthy ethnic sentiments among workers at workplaces.

The Apex Farmers Organisation of Ghana (APFOG) observed that the situation did not only affect productivity but it also has the tendency of undermining unity among workers in the labour front and if care was not taken it would be extended to other segments of the population. In a statement issued in Tamale and signed by its General Secretary, Osofo Patrick Adingtingah Apullah, to congratulate the leadership of the TUC and the Ghanaian workers on the occasion of May Day, the APFOG urged workers to rather unite to fight poverty, illiteracy and ignorance in the society, which it noted were undermining productivity.

The organisation urged the leadership of the TUC to continue to create a platform to inspire as well as motive the labour force to close their ranks and assist policy makers to transform the economy of the country.

The statement called on Ghanaian workers to change their preference and taste for foreign goods to locally produced ones to encourage farmers to produce more for domestic consumption and for export to enhance the growth of the economy.
