TMA to dredge Ashaiman and Sakumano drains

Tema, Nov 5, GNA - The Tema Metropolitan Assembly

(TMA) is to dredge the Ashaiman/Sakumono drain as part of

measures to curb perennial flooding of the Ashaiman under-

pass. Mr Stephen Attipoe, Tema Metropolitan Road Engineer said

the dredging would cost GH¢1,000,000. Mr Attipoe said this in Tema on Thursday when Nii Amarh

Ashitey, Greater Accra Regional Minister and Mr Robert

Kemps-Ofosuware, TMA Chief Executive, inspected road

projects in the Metropolis. He said the Nungua barrier road to the Ashaiman under-pass

would also be rehabilitated, adding that tendering was ongoing. Mr Attipoe said a bridge would be constructed to link

Klagon to Community 12 for motorists to easily move from

Klagon to Tema without using the Ashaiman under-pass. He said 12.3 kilometres of roads in Tema Community One

and its environs under construction would be asphalted. The roads included the Republic Road, Baba Yara Road,

George Padmore Road and others. Nii Amarh Ashitey congratulated the TMA and the Ministry

of Roads and Highways for starting the rehabilitation of the

Tema roads, which had lacked major repairs over the past 40

years. He also appealed to drivers to observe regulations on axel

road, overloading and proper parking. Mr Kemps-Ofosuware stated that TMA would fulfill every

promise made to residents.
