Susupend Phone-In On radio - B/A Chiefs

Two traditional rulers in the Brong Ahafo Region have suggested the suspension of phone-in and newspaper review programmes in the Region in the run up to the December polls.

Nana Sarbeng Ababio, Akwamuhene and Nana Aboa Boahemaa, Dwantuahemaa, both of Sunyani Traditional Area, contended that if taken up, the suggestion would go a long way towards ensuring that this year?s elections were violence-free.

At a forum for Chiefs and queen mothers organised by Brong Ahafo Regional Secretariat of the National Commission for Civic Education on election related issues, they expressed concern about the ?unpalatable radio programmes? being aired on FM stations in the Region.

They called for suspension of the programmes ?two weeks before and two weeks after elections to avoid any chaotic or unpleasant situation?.

They blamed some Political Party supporters in the region for using provocative language in their phone-in comments on topical issues during newspaper reviews.
