Sunyani market women get new Queens

Market women urged to respect leaders
The president of the Sunyani Market Women Association, Mrs Cynthia Mensah, has urged
market women to respect their leadership to ensure smooth administration of the
market.
She has also asked them to avoid backbiting which has on many occassions destroyed
personalities and relations.

Mrs Mensah was speaking at the installationn of Ama Serwaa and Akosua Effah as
Queens for tomatoes and orange sellers Unions of the Sunyani central market
respectively.
Mrs Mensah again charged market women in Sunyani to keep the market clean and
respect customers who patronise the facility.
Nana Yaa Nyamaa II, Queenmother of Sunyani, asked all market women to pay their
taxes to enable government improve facilities at the market.
She added that payment of taxes should be the responsibility of every citizen if the
country is to develop.
Nana Yaa Nyamaa urged the executives of the market women to avoid politicizing
issues and rather lobby for development for the market.
The Dwantoahemaa of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Aboa Boahemaa, charged the
new executives of the market unions to settle all internal matters amicably. She
also urged them to avoid certain mistakes their predecessors committed in the past
which affected their administration.
Nana Boahemaa appealed to the executives to always consult their elders before
taking decisions to ensure harmony.
The Krontihemaa of Sunyani, Nana Akosua Akomah, urged the market women to advise
their husbands to desist from politics of insults to during this year’s
electioneering campaign.
She noted that because of the special roles women play in homes they could prevail
on men to tone down their political discussions.
