St Agnes JSS wins Joy Industries Cultural Festival

Saint Agnes Junior High School(JHS) was crowned the over-all best performers at this year’s Joy Industries Basic Schools Drama and Poetry Festival held in Koforidua.

For their prize, they took away a plaque, certificate, calendar and an undisclosed amount of money.

The best organized drama group went to Apimpua JHS, for their prize, they were presented with a plaque, certificate and an undisclosed amount of money.

Trinity Presbyterian JHS won the best script and took away, a plaque, certificate and an undisclosed amount of money as their prize, whiles the well comported school went to Wesley International School.

The best actor and actress award went to Emmanuel Asiming Darkwahene of Wesley International School and Shekina Muniru from A.M.E Zion Schools respectively.

Joana Tiirow of Nana Kwaku Boateng JHS won the best poet award, while the discovery of the year was won by Dominic Sarpong also from Nana Kwaku Boateng JHS.

All the 11 participating schools in the three-day festival were given certificates and calendars.

Rev. Stephen Ebo Kessie, Acting Eastern Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture, indicated that, the festival has achieved its objective of bringing out the best in the children, with the view to propel them towards high achievements in the performing arts industry.

He commended the teachers who trained and groomed the children to produce the educative and entertaining dramatic sketches and poetry recitals, and urged them to groom more talents for the nation.

He commended the sponsors, Joy Industries Limited, and urged other organizations to show interest in the sponsorship of other educative programmes.

Nana Kwasi Barmieh, a former Eastern Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture, urged Ghanaians not to destroy the rich culture and other valuable identities of the country.
