Shama District Assembly holds refresher courses for staff

The Shama District Assembly has begun holding series of capacity building courses for its entire staff to help improve their productivity rate and increase revenue collection.

They are being taken through topics such as financial and skills management, revenue mobilization, grant proposal writing, and report writing among others.

Addressing the staff during the first phase of the course at Shama, Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, District Chief Executive for Shama, expressed optimism that the knowledge acquired would inspire them to put in their best at work.

He said it was important that the staff underwent such refreshment programs to keep themselves abreast with their core duties and deliver for the development of the area.

Mr. Appiah said the assembly’s main duty of development cannot be achieved if the staff who are to do the job were dormant, and impressed on them to take the courses seriously and let it reflect in their work, especially the area of revenue generation.

He said it is expected that after the courses, the staff would eschew negative practices like laziness and use the office time profitably.

He said revenue generation in the first quarter was not encouraging and expected to see improvement after the courses.**
