Seven babies delivered on Christmas Day

Seven babies were delivered at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital, and the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie on Christmas Day.

Four of the children, three males and one female, were delivered at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital in the Kwahu West Municipality while three babies, two females and a male, were also delivered at the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie in the Kwahu South District.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the Kwahu Government Hospital, a Senior Midwife in-charge of the labour ward, Ms Doris Wiafe, said all the deliveries were normal, and advised pregnant women to attend regular anti-natal clinics, take all drugs given them by midwives, and also take all medical advice seriously to avoid complications during delivery.

Ms Mary Adjei, a Staff Midwife at the labour ward of the Holy Family Hospital advised pregnant women to go to the nearest health centres and hospitals during labour to ensure safe delivery.

She urged pregnant women to report at the anti-natal clinic during the early stages of their pregnancy for a blood test to know their HIV status, and other pregnancy-related diseases for early treatment.
