Secularise schools to reduce religious tension - Eckankar

Mr Aspect Caiquo, Spiritual Aide, Tema Local Area, Eckankar Ghana, has called for the secularisation of schools to reduce religious tension in the educational sector.

According to him, forcing the beliefs and practices of a religion on a non-adherent was wrong and unacceptable because everyone is naturally and divinely endowed with the fundamental right of free will which should never be suppressed.

Mr Caiquo, who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the sidelines of “a day of spiritual interaction”, organised by Eckankar Ghana, at Tema Newtown, said, secularisation of public services will allow all religions to have a level playing field to contribute meaningfully to the unity and cohesion of society.”

On the role of religion in national development, he said all religions in Ghana are centred on love, ethics and service, which when adhered to would bring about the needed transformation and development in society.

‘If you have love in your heart, you will not show or practice negative things on yourself and other people. If you are ethical, you would do the right thing anywhere you find yourself and if you understand the spirit of service, government would not tell you to volunteer to clean your own surroundings,” he said.
