School children in East Mamprusi District receives free uniforms

Gambaga (N/R), May 15, GNA - About 144 pupils of the Nanori Presbyterian Primary School in the East Mamprusi District have received free school uniforms under the free school uniforms policy of the government. A total of 1,048 students in the district have also been selected to benefit from the package to reduce the burden on parents' expenditure in educating their wards.

Mr. Imoro Adams, District Chief Executive (DCE) who presented the uniforms to the pupils at Nanori/Tinsungu on Thursday urged the students to study hard for a brighter future. He said government was on track in fulfilling all its campaign promises made to Ghanaians. The DCE said the free uniforms were part of the NDC's campaign promise of investing in the people.

He said government was prepared to reverse the four- year Senior High School programme to three years.

Mr. Adams urged the people to desist from divisive politicking, which he said does not augur well for the development of the country. Mr. Guolgone Cletus Labiedem, District Director of Education told the people that it was the responsibility of parents to provide all it takes for their children to be in school.

He expressed worry that children in the area are being distracted in their educational pursuit through forced marriages and child labour and asked parents to reverse the negative trend.
